Neanthe Bella Palm
Chamaedorea elegans
Family: Arecaceae
Common Names: Neanthe Bella Palm, Parlour Palm, Neanthe Palm
Plant Type: Tropical palm
Best For: Homes, offices and lower-light indoor spaces
Pet Friendly: Yes, generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs.*
Available Size: 4" nursery pots
Neanthe Bella Palm is a compact indoor palm with slender green stems and soft, arching fronds. Its graceful growth and manageable size make it an easy way to add tropical greenery without requiring a large amount of space.
Native from Mexico through Central America, Chamaedorea elegans naturally grows beneath taller vegetation and is well adapted to filtered light. This makes it one of the more forgiving palms for indoor growing, including spaces that don't receive the intense light many tropical plants require.
Care
Light: Low to bright indirect light. Avoid intense direct sun.
Water: Allow the upper soil to dry slightly between watering. Avoid soggy soil.
Temperature: Prefers 18°C–27°C. Protect from cold drafts.
Humidity: Prefers moderate humidity but adapts well to typical household conditions.
Growth: Slow-growing with slender stems and arching green fronds.
Maintenance: Remove brown or damaged fronds as needed and repot only when necessary.
Plant appearance, bloom colour and size may vary.
Each plant is a living specimen and naturally unique.
* Neanthe Bella Palm is considered non-toxic to cats and dogs. Eating any plant material may still cause mild gastrointestinal upset. Contact your veterinarian if you have concerns about your pet.
