Dracaena trifasciata

Family: Asparagaceae
Common Names: Sansevieria, Mother-in-Law's Tongue
Plant Type: Tropical evergreen perennial
Best For: Homes, offices, beginners and lower-light spaces
Pet Friendly: No, toxic to cats and dogs if ingested.*
Available Size: 6" nursery pots

Snake Plant is a hardy houseplant known for its tall, upright leaves patterned with bands of green. Its architectural growth, excellent tolerance of dry soil and ability to adapt to different light levels make it one of the easiest indoor plants to grow.

Native to tropical Africa, Dracaena trifasciata naturally grows in seasonally dry conditions. Formerly classified in the genus Sansevieria, it is still commonly sold under that familiar name.

Care

Light: Low to bright indirect light. Brighter light generally encourages stronger growth.
Water: Allow soil to dry thoroughly between watering. Water sparingly during winter.
Temperature: Prefers 18°C–27°C. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 10°C.
Humidity: Tolerates low to moderate household humidity.
Growth: Upright and clump-forming, spreading slowly through underground rhizomes.
Maintenance: Avoid overwatering and remove damaged leaves at the base as needed.

Plant appearance, bloom colour and size may vary.
Each plant is a living specimen and naturally unique.

* Snake Plant is toxic to cats and dogs if ingested. Its saponins can cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. It is not generally considered among the highly life-threatening houseplants, but contact your veterinarian if ingestion occurs.
